Spring WICEN has erupted with two events scheduled for Sunday 28 October. For those who enjoy watching cyclists suffer many hours in the saddle, Fitz’s Challenge is a real treat. For those who prefer real saddles and horses, see another post about the Witwood event.
The Fitz Challenge is a long distance cycling event (total distance of up to 255km) were we provide safety monitoring checkpoints at various locations along the course. The course will be through Namadgi National Park and Paddys River Rd Tidbinbilla. The course is similar to previous years with checkpoints at
THARWA | Tharwa Village | 10.00 AM | 3.30 PM |
RENDEZVOUS | Rendezvous Creek | 8.30 AM | 2.00 PM |
ORRORAL | Orroral Valley U-turn | 9.15 AM | 1.00 PM |
FITZ HILL | Fitz Hill, Pedal Power food/water stop | 1.15 PM | as req |
HONEYSUCKLE | Honeysuckle Creek U-turn | 10.00 AM | 2.30 PM |
CORIN | Corin Forest recreation facility, RHS of road. CP is at the entrance to the car park. | 11.30 AM | 5.00 PM |
KANGAROO CK | Kangaroo Creek U-turn | 12.00 PM | 4.30 PM |
URIARRA | Near Uriarra Homestead, on Uriarra Rd just N of Brindabella Rd junction | 2.00 PM | 7.00 PM |
WICEN may not need to provide operators at all checkpoints.
HQ at Stromlo cycle park will run two networks, one on 2m amateur band and one on an 80MHz WICEN allocation. We will need at least two operators on two shifts, total four.
This year we have moved to using google forms to collect & collate responses rather than relying on emailed responses – as such can I ask if you can check your calendars for your availability and complete the form at the following link, noting your preferences for times and places: https://goo.gl/forms/Kpm8btxmwRxh2wj42
On submission / successful completion of the form, you should get an email confirming the form has been submitted and a link to your response. If you do experience any issues with the form (or don’t get an email from google forms) then please let me know.
