Good evening all, well yet another request for assistance and / or
confirmation of availability.
As I currently have it, the availability of people for the Call of the
Beasts event on Saturday week (7 Nov 15) is as follows:
Available:
Matthew Hadfield VK1FMDH
John Gieroszynski VK1FJMG
Matt McNeil VK1MA
Bill Robertson VK1WPR
Margaret Robertson VK1FCEW
Wayne Nitchske VK1WN
Possible
John Woolner VK1ET
Ian McCleary VK1FMAC
Unfortunately we have had a number of people who have needed to pull out due
other commitments or activities, so we really need additional operators for
this event. This year we will be manning 4 checkpoints (0730 through to
1700) and the HQ (0700 through to about 1730), so if at all possible, I
would like to be able to split the load (unless people are happy to commit
to the whole period).
Can I ask that those listed above please confirm their availability for this
event to the wicen(a)crarc.ampr.org <mailto:wicen@crarc.ampr.org> email
address and indicate if they are available for the whole event or
preferences for portions of the event if we have sufficient people to split
up coverage of the CP's. Additional volunteers (also indicating time
availability and preferences) would also be very much appreciated - and
responses also sent to the wicen(a)crarc.ampr.org
<mailto:wicen@crarc.ampr.org> email address as well please. In order to
allow me to finalise the roster, responses by the end of this weekend would
be very much appreciated!
As the Caloola farm venue is currently under liquidation (as I understand
it), we don't know if this event will be held again so this may be the last
opportunity to visit this very picturesque property. As a consequence of the
farm being under liquidation, facilities previously available will not be
available this year (so no accommodation in the multi-function centre), but
they are happy for people to camp there the night prior. The organisers
advise that a cut lunch will be provided and for those who wish to attend, a
free BBQ and softdrinks will be provided on completion of the event.
Equipment for this year will be minimal. Communications will be primarily on
one of our commercial UHF portable repeaters (equipment for this will be
provided to you on the day) but I anticipate running an alternate / backup
net on 2m simplex as well. For those who do not have 2m capability, a
limited quantity of spare 2m gear is available for loan (but please let me
know in advance if this is needed).
